Orange brownies

“Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.”

At my house, we always follow this rule :) .

Me being a chocoholic, I love chocolate in every form, but my absolute favourite are chocolate.covered orange peels or orange-flavored chocolate.

The other day my sister was making a cake and I suggested she cover it in orange-flavoured chocolate: the result was incredible!

So that same night, while I was falling asleep, an idea came to my mind: orange flavoured brownies!

A few days later I decided I would try making black bean brownies and add some orange flavouring and see what would come out!

Orange Brownie

1 cup black beans, cooked and drained

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 +1/8 cup cocoa powder

1/4 cup flour

1/2 cup applesauce

3/4 tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp baking soda

2 tbsp oil

1-2 tsp vanilla extract

1-2 tsp orange extract or a few drops of orange essential oil (which is what I used)

Place everything in a blender or food processor and process until everything is well blended.

Place in baking pan and cook for at 350 F for 30 minutes, or until tooth-pick comes out clean.

The result is a dense and moist brownie with a hint of orange. Not too bad!

Question of the day:

Do you like chocolate covered fruit? which one is your favourite?

As I said before, my favourite are chocolate covered orange peels!

  1. You seem to have all the recipes I’m looking for! I tried to make an eggless black bean brownie recipe but I’ve never been successful at it, it always turned out like cake. I like how these are low fat too, I think this will be added my baking to-do list :)

  2. Wow these look amazing! I just discovered that combination and I love it.
Some others I like are dark chocolate covered strawberries, banana slices, blueberries and acai berries!
